What This Site Is

Thorium Baby is a curated content hub dedicated to nuclear energy education and advocacy. We are not a news site. We are not a blog. We are a focused, long-form resource covering the science, technology, policy, and global landscape of nuclear energy — with a particular emphasis on thorium fuel cycles and molten salt reactor technology.

Our coverage spans eight core areas: thorium and molten salt reactors, advanced reactor designs and small modular reactors, the role of nuclear in climate action, the legacy and lessons of Fukushima, nuclear politics and policy, the frontier of fusion energy, nuclear safety and waste management, and the global nuclear race.

Why This Exists

The conversation around nuclear energy is dominated by two extremes: uncritical boosters who dismiss every concern, and reflexive opponents who ignore the science. Neither serves the public interest.

Thorium Baby exists to occupy the space between those poles. We are pro-nuclear because the evidence supports nuclear energy as an indispensable component of any serious decarbonization strategy. We are pro-thorium because thorium fuel cycles offer genuine advantages in waste profile, proliferation resistance, and reactor safety. But we are also honest about the real challenges: cost overruns, waste management, regulatory bottlenecks, and the long timelines between laboratory promise and commercial deployment.

Advocacy that ignores inconvenient facts is propaganda. We aim for something better.

  • Scientific rigor. We cite specific reactor designs, fuel cycles, isotopes, and power outputs — not vague generalities.
  • Honest about challenges. Nuclear waste, cost, proliferation risk, and construction delays are real. We address them directly.
  • Non-partisan. Nuclear energy has bipartisan support in the United States. We keep it that way.
  • Forward-looking. Nuclear is the future of clean energy. We frame it that way.
